Teen Gym

Getting your teenager started with a MOVE Teen membership is a positive step forward by encouraging, developing and nurturing positive healthy exercise habits.

This will not only set them up with a multitude of health benefits, but also establish a health and fitness relationship that will last a lifetime.

Here at MOVE, we acknowledge the growing need to ensure that adolescents should be pursuing regular physical activity. One of the ways in which we can do our part to help teenagers in our local community achieve this, is with a MOVE Teen Gym membership.

A MOVE Teen Gym Membership is exclusively available for 13-15 year olds, providing access to supervised Teen Gym sessions and access to the gym and aquatic facilities. Parent / guardian supervision is required in the gym until the first BEGIN appointment has been attended.

*Please note the MOVE Teen Membership can not be purchased online.
You must visit Ascot Vale Leisure Centre or Keilor East Leisure Centre in person with a parent/carer present to purchase the membership.
Your first BEGIN appointment must be booked in at time of membership purchase.

Teen Gym hour

A MOVE Teen membership provides access to our Teen Gym Hour sessions, which are available Monday to Friday at both Ascot Vale Leisure Centre and Keilor East Leisure Centre.

These alternate between sessions of circuit / functional training, and age-appropriate strength training. All our sessions are conducted and supervised by our Trainers, to ensure that all exercises are performed safely and correctly.

Getting started

All new MOVE members start with our free BEGIN induction. As a MOVE Teen member, you'll get three complimentary sessions with a fitness trainer to set your goals, get a personalised workout plan and learn how to safely use gym equipment.

The first BEGIN session must be attended with a parent or guardian. Follow-up sessions help track progress and adjust your plan as needed.

Our team is always available for quick tips, equipment help, or posture checks.

If you need additional support, a dedicated one-on-one training session can be scheduled anytime outside of our dedicated Teen Gym Hour.

Teen Gym FAQs

We suggest that if you’re still uncertain about whether this is right for your teenager, why not make an appointment to speak to one of our trainers.

Anybody wanting to join our Teen Gym membership requires consent from their parent / guardian in order to create the account. If a parent / guardian is already an existing MOVE member, they can simply create a new membership within their account in Active World. Click the button to enquire today about the MOVE Teen Membership.

Our Teen Gym membership is a recurring weekly direct debit. Once you sign up, you can suspend your membership for up to six-weeks without any additional cost.

We understand that the gym can seem like an intimidating place for people, but the MOVE team are here to ensure that nobody feels intimidated whilst working out.

Booking into a BEGIN appointment when you first join will allow you to connect with one of our team, and they will be able to introduce you to various equipment on the gym floor, explain how to use it safely and correctly, so that you can continue to utilise your membership and visit the gym with confidence.

We do not tolerate intimidating or threatening behaviour from anybody at our venues, and if anybody experiences this during their visit, we encourage them to alert our team as soon as possible.

They will need to bring a sweat towel with them for every visit. This is a requirement for anybody choosing to workout in the gym or a group fitness class. We also encourage them to bring a reuseable drink bottle. We do have drinking fountains available on site, as well as a kiosk that sells drinks. There are also mats available on the gym floor to use for stretching.

Parents / guardians are encouraged to drop off / pick up their teenager for their Teen Gym sessions. This helps to build their independence and confidence navigating their way around the facility before and after their session. In the interest of safety we recommend parents drop off and pick up their teenager from the entry of the venue.

If you are a parent and already a MOVE member, why not bring your workout gear as well? You could enjoy a group fitness class, gym workout, swim some laps or just relax in our spa / steam / sauna area whilst your teen is in the gym being active.

If you're not a current member, but would like to become a MOVE member as well, why not look at the various membership options we have available.

Parents are not able to be present in the Teen Gym session whilst their teenager is working out with us.

A Teen Gym membership gives them access to a dedicated Teen Gym hour on the gym floor, which is fully supervised by our gym trainers.

The hour is a dedicated session only to those with a Teen Gym membership, to ensure that all activities are conducted in a safe manner. Any exercises involving weights are restricted to age-appropriate weights.

Additionally, all MOVE employees have a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC), as well as have current certifications in both First Aid and CPR, so you child will always be in a safe environment under our supervision.

Once your teenager turns 16, they will be able to change their membership to any of our other MOVE memberships.

Teenagers that have valid school ID and / or Government-issued concessions cards (ie. health care card) will be eligible for concession pricing. Options for memberships include:

  • MOVE Health Club - provides gym-only access (no pool access) as well as group fitness classes
  • MOVE Aquatic - pool-only access, including aqua classes (no gym / group fitness)
  • MOVE Bronze - access to gym, group fitness and pools
  • MOVE Silver - everything in MOVE Bronze, with the addition of Reformer Pilates
  • MOVE GOLD - everything in MOVE Silver, with the addition of B Active Functional Training - small group training sessions.

Once your teen turns 16, they will be able to participate in all group fitness classes, as well as access our spa / steam / sauna facilities.
