Personal Training FAQs

Personal Training is available for anyone to purchase on a casual or multi-visit pass basis. Personal Training sessions are an additional cost to our MOVE memberships.

Personal training is a 1-on-1 session. If your friend would like to train with you, they will also need to pay for a session as well, but always check with your trainer first. 

If you have existing health conditions or mobility issues, we strongly suggest that you speak to your GP before undertaking any type of physical activity. If you have a history of heart disease, cardiorespiratory issues (eg asthma), arthritis, or other mobility restrictions, please speak to your GP / medical specialist to ascertain what physical limitations need to be observed. If you have been given a rehab / prehab program by a physiotherapist, orthopedic surgeon, please bring this with you on your first visit. 

Your Personal Trainer will work with you to organise your session times and will book them directly through Active World. If you ever need to reschedule, simply speak with your trainer and they’ll assist with any changes.

Unfortunately, we don’t allow external trainers to train their clients in our facilities.

Make sure that you wear clothing that you feel comfortable to exercise in, as well as a drink bottle and a sweat towel. 

In your first session, your trainer will take the time to understand your goals, preferences, and any previous training experience. Based on this conversation, they’ll design and guide you through a customised program tailored to your individual needs, goals, and preferred training style.

If you’re unable to attend your scheduled session, please contact your Personal Trainer directly or notify reception as soon as possible.

Cancellations or rescheduling must be made at least 24 hours in advance. If notice isn’t given within this timeframe, the session will be forfeited (for multi-pack holders) or charged in full (for individually paid sessions).

We understand that sometimes personalities can clash, and that’s perfectly normal. If you find that you aren’t getting along with your trainer, you can have a chat to our Health Club Manager, and we can find an alternate trainer for you. 

After completing your initial sessions, you’ll have a personalised program to continue on your own or, if you’d like ongoing support, you can continue working with your trainer. We offer flexible options, including pay-per-session or 10-pack purchases (available in both 30-minute and 60-minute formats). Chat with your trainer to develop a plan that best suits your goals, schedule, and preferences.

The BEGIN program is a complimentary onboarding service designed to help new MOVE members settle into the gym with confidence. It includes three 1-on-1 sessions with a qualified fitness professional, where you'll receive a personalised program, be guided through how to use the equipment, and learn how to follow your plan independently. BEGIN is focused on helping you build a solid foundation and understand how to train safely and effectively on your own.

Personal Training is a more hands-on, ongoing coaching service. Your trainer will work closely with you to help achieve specific fitness goals, with tailored programming, expert technique coaching, and continuous support every step of the way. It’s ideal for those wanting extra accountability, motivation, or specialised guidance beyond what’s offered in the BEGIN sessions.
